We got rid of that cowboy Bush and the Europeans have learned to dislike us anyway (tip to Instapundit):
President Obama this week will visit a European continent deeply worried about its economy, the worsening conflict in Syria and the uncertain direction of American leadership abroad in the fifth year of his administration.
As he arrives Monday in Northern Ireland for his first trip to Europe in two years, Obama will be confronting the diplomatic fallout from his actions and inaction on some of the most urgent concerns of his European counterparts.
The funniest is that after mostly opposing our fight against a Baathist regime in Iraq the Europeans are frustrated that we aren't more active in opposing a Baathist regime in Syria.
But they don't like us being so active in drone warfare elsewhere.
Would they like us more if we used drones over Syria? Just a thought.
But after the Libya War, let's not talk of Europeans being anti-war while we are gun-happy. Europeans are fine with wars they want to wage.
And the Europeans seem to be upset with that NSA stuff. Although I thought Europeans were used to heavy state surveillance of their every move. I assumed they'd trust President Obama with that information.
Apparently, European reliance on American leadership and power is so great that any American president's actions or inactions will concern Europeans.
It's them. Not us.
