I'm Sorry

What is with our president? Britain has been a good friend for many years. I've gotten over that whole torching Washington, D.C., incident. Frankly, a lot of Americans think it should be figuratively done tomorrow. Yet our president can't manage to support our ally in an issue the British went to war over:

Barack Obama may have rolled out the red carpet for David Cameron at the White House last month, flown the Prime Minister on Air Force One to Ohio, and lavished him with a state dinner, but he still won’t back America’s closest ally over the Falklands, sticking to a policy of “neutrality”.

And to add insult to injury, our president called the Falklands the "Maldives" even as he was trying to suck up to Latin America by calling them by their Argentinian name (Malvinas). Dumb and dumber, eh?

Or perhaps we are all underestimating the deep nuance of the Obama administration's foreign policy. Maybe President Obama is trying to provoke an Argentinian-Maldives crisis to get India to intervene on the side of the Maldives and therefore embroil Argentina in a conflict that will keep the Argentinians from pressuring Britain.

Yeah, it could be that deep.

Or we could have a president who will throw any nation under the bus if it is convenient at the moment. History began in 2008 for our president. Before Obama doesn't count. Sadly for Britain, even fighting and dying at our side since 2008 doesn't seem to count.

I'm sorry our president has so little regard for Britain. As far as I'm concerned, our relationship is still special. I look forward to repairing our reputation with Britain in the near future.

But hey, this is the man you Brits were having wet dreams about back in 2008. You got who you wished to get. Is it as fun as you thought it would be?

Don't forget that loyalty is a cowboy trait, ok?

UPDATE: Sheesh, take some time off to have dinner and a couple of beers and still the scheduled posting doesn't work?
