Deal With the Devils

I don't think that granting China concessions about how the world's economy and politics are run is a price we should pay for saving the Euro and the European Union. Zakaria (viewing Earth from whatever planet he inhabits) thinks that doing this will make China a "responsible stakeholder" in the global system we have built. I think it will just allow Peking to advance that whole "middle kingdom" notion that the world should instead conform to their objectives.

Let the EU die. It isn't working. I've already expressed my nuanced view on that. Let the Euro-zone shrink.

Why would we pretend that it is the height of nuanced statesmanship to encourage a more influencial China and a more influential EU when neither is in our interest?

UPDATE: Explain to me again why China would pay for the system we built? I swear, Zakaria couldn't find his own buttocks with both hands and a GPS signal.
