Scorched Earth

We are tearing up the jihadis in Iraq. So I guess they figure winning hearts and minds is rather pointless. Why not just kill them all and let Allah sort them out?

That's what seems to have happened in one farming community in Iraq:

As we passed through the village, Captain Combs pointed out the nice houses, saying the people had been simple farmers with comfortable homes and lives.

Until al Qaeda came.

Read and see what Yon catalogs. The pictures are not pretty. Not even the animals were spared.

These stories happen time and again. The enemy is caught with torture chambers, or killing in a gruesome or wanton fashion. And alway, the real outrage in our media and the Leftists who love them is reserved for a naked prisoner pyramid where "humiliation" is seen as far worse than death.

Just once, I asked, could our Left and their media allies work up the outrage over what our enemy does rather than the mere accusations of what we purportedly have done?

It probably won't happen this time either. It probably won't even happen if the enemy ever hits the Berkeley Women's Studies Department. Not even the most committed feminist will admit that the jihadis hate women. Our Left has decided who is bad and who is good, and no number of numbing slaughters by the jihadis will shake this belief.

UPDATE: Michael Yon offers to help the media which is strangely quiet on yet another enemy atrocity.

While a generous offer, Yon should realize that while you can lead a Hearst to slaugher, you can't make him think.
