How About a Gray (Old) New Deal?

The pursuit of economic unicorns will seem rather self-defeating when the figurative heavy cavalry thunders toward us.

Good advice (tip to Instapundit):

To counter China, Russia, Iran and their accessories, the West needs not a ‘Green New Deal’ (parts of which Joe Biden has slipped into his poorly named Inflation Reduction Act), but something closer to the original New Deal of the 1930s – a programme which, as Robert Gordon has pointed out, enhanced infrastructure, energy generation and industrial productivity. These policies laid the basis for allowing America and its allies to transform themselves into what Franklin D Roosevelt labelled an ‘Arsenal of Democracy’ – turning the US into an industrial hub to support the fight against fascism.

Restoring our ability to be the Arsenal of Democracy is a foundation for expanding our military, if necessary

Heck, some of our Navy that would fight in World War II--including two aircraft carriers--was built with New Deal funding

What do we get now instead? Effing China-sourced windmills and EVs nobody wants. Oh, and heat pumps in the latest addition to the spending anchor that will sink our economy.

Our government pretends our enemies won't go to war against us. Russia and Iran seem to disagree.

Who else agrees with them?
