Mission Accomplished

Russia bought time for Assad to kill his way to survival in the face of a massive rebellion by crafting a chemical weapons deal with our half-wit secretary of state. Russia doesn't need the deal any more so would like enforcement de-fanged.

Russia has a Security Council veto, so good luck with that plea:

France, Britain, the U.S. and Germany called on the U.N. Security Council to renew the mandate of an international inquiry into chemical weapons' attacks in Syria, and urged for a strong signal to ensure those responsible were held accountable.

The 2013 chemical weapons deal passed its expiration date, so Russia wants to send a strong signal that it doesn't give a damn what the West thinks about Russia's friendly Assad regime in Syria.

It astounds me that the Obama administration let Russia win their low-scale intervention in Syria by failing to give real support to rebels who could have deposed Assad several hundred thousand dead Syrians ago (and a couple million fewer refugee/migrants fleeing to Europe), and preempted the rise of ISIL that plagued Iraq and other countries, including European victims of terror.

I just hope our diplomats are done shooting themselves (and America) in their own feet.
