A Friend in Need is a ... Damn Annoyance

America is pressuring Israel to stop trying to destroy Hamas in Gaza. Our enemies notice that. Will our enemies be grateful or will they try harder to kill us?

After keeping its distance from Hamas since the terror group launched the  October 7, 2023 murder, rape, and kidnapping invasion of Israel, Iran is now willing to openly embrace Hamas:

Iranian Armed Forces General Staff (AFGS) Chief Maj. Gen. Mohammad Bagheri met with Hamas Political Bureau Chairman Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on March 29. Bagheri praised Hamas’ October 7 attack and reemphasized the Iranian regime’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause, describing the latter as one of Tehran’s “main objectives.” Bagheri separately claimed that Israel would have already “collapsed” without support from the United States.

Why wouldn't Iran openly embrace their little proxy murderers/rapists? America is trying to restrain Israel from finishing off Hamas in Gaza

If Biden’s ongoing intellectual confusion prevails, enabling Hamas to assert such a "terrorist veto" over legitimate self-defense, Israel will be permanently weakened.

Whatever fear Iran had that the brutal crimes of Hamas had ended the basis of Iran's confidence in American patience is gone.

Now we're back to the baseline established by Biden's Skedaddle Debacle in Afghanistan where we abandoned our Afghan allies. Our refusal to fully aid Ukraine resist Iran's new best friend Russia isn't helping, either. And what does Biden's refusal to control our southern border from waves of illegal immigrants say about our lack of resolve?

As American forces sail in to build a pier to supply Gazans (and Hamas) with "humanitarian aid," remember that American troops went into Lebanon 40 years ago to shield the PLO from Israel's invasion to end that threat to northern Israel.

Our troops went in with the French and Italians to prevent Israel from fighting through Beirut to finish off the PLO. Israel stopped at the outskirts of Beirut. And we eventually arranged for the PLO to evacuate to Tunisia.

Mullah-run Iran was not impressed with our mission to help Palestinian terrorists:

Despite a ceasefire at the end of September [1983], sporadic heavy fighting continued in October and the Marines continued to take casualties. Then, on the morning of 23 October, disaster struck for the 24th MAU. At 0622, a Mercedes Benz stake-bed truck laden with 2,000 pounds of explosives sped past a Marine post, through a fence, and crashed into the lobby of the Battalion Landing Team (BLT) 1/8 Headquarters Building and detonated. The BLT building, housing more than 300 men, completely collapsed into a pile of rubble almost instantaneously. A 2003 U.S. court case revealed documents indicating that Islamic terrorists from the precursor to the extremist group, Hezbollah, carried out the attack under orders from Iran.

Iran killed 241 Marines, sailors and soldiers with the bomb. The French lost scores in a terror attack on their positions, too. If Iran ever had any gratitude for American aid to their friends, the sight of vulnerable Americans close at hand was too tempting to ignore.

With a bonus meaningless ceasefire that Iran and Hezbollah violated!

So I'm not comforted by our woke-adjacent military leadership's confidence that force protection methods will work:

“Force protection is at the top of our list any time we put our forces in harm’s way,” [Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff, CQ] Brown told reporters during a press event on Thursday. “There will be our own capabilities to protect our forces, the Israelis have also committed to help protect our forces in the area, [as] have other nations that are also part of this as well."

Everybody loves us and will protect us! Which is nice. So we have that going for us, apparently.

We'll ignore the issue that achieving the mission should be at the top of the list when our armed forces are committed to a war.

But if Iran and its proxies strike and kill Americans, Israel will be blamed. Already you can see how the minds of the  left's best and brightest are framing the Hamas War

Palestinian factions led an unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, sparking the deadliest flare-up to date of the decades-long Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The Hamas rape and murder invasion wasn't the "flare-up" of violence. The Hamas "attack" only sparked it. So Israel is really to blame for striking back. The nuance is strong in that one.

So Israel will be blamed when Islamists kill Americans at the new port we are building for Hamas. Nearby Americans are an opportunity that can't be ignored, eh?

As the Biden administration edges toward hamstringing Israel to save Hamas--to the joy of Iran's "Death to America!" mullahs--who else will worry about our security pledges? Ah, Smart Diplomacy!®

UPDATE: Is the report of Israel withdrawing their 98th Division from southern Gaza a sign that Israel is caving in to Biden's pressure?

Or is Israel regrouping to assault Rafah?

Forming a reserve anticipating Iran throwing Hezbollah into the fight?

Or--and this could be part of caving in to pressure--is Israel ready to begin raids into southern Gaza in a long-term low-level war to finish the destruction of Hamas forces?
