Never Let a Crisis Go to Waste: EU Edition.

European Union apparatchiki shouldn't be allowed to pretend that America's sudden and stunning failure in Afghanistan is why they need a EU military. The EU doesn't give a damn about Afghanistan and has long wanted its own military to undermine the American-led NATO and build its imperial state.

The Eurocrats claim to be disappointed in the Biden administration

Growing concerns about American leadership have triggered renewed calls for an autonomous, pan-European military dedicated and able to serve a European agenda. The prospects for European strategic autonomy are no more realistic. Yet, the persistence of this proposal strains the transatlantic relationship, which has not improved under the Biden presidency despite all expectations.

Far be it for me to defend the Biden administration, but Biden is just an excuse. Just as Trump was an excuse. Just as the EU found reasons before him to pursue a EU military designed to strip the prefix from the proto-imperial state that the EU was always intended to be

For all that the Europeans are complaining about our chaotic Afghanistan debacle, few Europeans fought with us there through their NATO commitments. If Afghanistan was so important to Europeans, why were European allies whose infantry fought limited to the British and Dutch? Well, and the Canadians too, but they aren't a European state.

The French briefly tried fighting but didn't like it very much and so stopped.

The Germans were apparently so afraid of going all blitzkrieg on the world if they got a whiff of gunpowder that they just refused to fight.

Mind you, many countries had special force involved. I believe Afghanistan was called the "Special Forces Olympics". But I'm talking about infantry in the day-to-day fighting that requires regular casualties to carry out.

Face it, the EU states sat this war out. And now they claim failure is why they need a EU military? Not all of us are gullible enough to believe that.

UPDATE: Well of course Macron would have a defense minister say this:

French Armed Forces Minister Florence Parly told her NATO counterparts on Friday not to fear the European Union's defence plans, saying that the United States will benefit and any European capabilities will strengthen the alliance.

If America and NATO would benefit, Macron wouldn't do it. So naturally our secretary of defense agreed with France.

Macron is losing popularity in France and his only hope of retaining power is to become Macron I, Emperor of Europe. What's Austin's excuse?
