The Walk Away Option

Palestinians have to accept that America isn't going to split the difference between the maximalist Palestinian goal of annihilating Israel and the more moderate goal of eliminating Israel as a basis for a peace plan. Israel could just walk away.

Pretty much:

To themselves Palestinians take it for granted that they only solution to their disagreements with Israel is for Israel to be destroyed. Many Arab nations have concluded that this is not practical, especially when Arab states are facing a serious Iranian threat, something they share with Israel. As a result Arab governments are establishing economic, military and diplomatic ties with Israel.

The Trump peace deal is basically telling the Palestinians that holding out for the destruction of Israel is no longer acceptable and they can take it or leave it.

As I noted in this data dump:

The Palestinians are angry at the US proposal for a two-state solution alongside Israel? One, they're always angry about something.  And two, the deal might be something that Israel can just unilaterally do. This may be more about dumping the Palestinians as too much bother to govern. If the Palestinians reject the deal the only thing they might be rejecting practically speaking is $50 billion in aid, a UN seat, and cooperation with Israel to help make things better for the Palestinians. Is Iran going to bail the Palestinians out? Even if Iran under sanctions could afford that, are the Palestinians unaware of the way Arab deals with Iran work? (After I wrote this I see that Scott Adams recognized the same aspect of not requiring the Palestinians to carry this out.)

Palestinians are trying but seemingly failing to rally support in the UN Security Council against the US peace plan unveiled. But the Palestinians rejected the plan sight unseen in 2018.

The Palestinians don't seem to realize they are no longer the Queen of the Victims Prom.

Sadly, instead of seizing the opportunity for a normal life the Palestinian "leaders" will probably sign up for Iran's offer to let ordinary Palestinians die for Iran.
