The Only Front Iran Can Win

Iran's propaganda war continues to affect our Congress.

Really? Trump had to override Congress to preserve American interests?

U.S. President Donald Trump, declaring a national emergency because of tensions with Iran, swept aside objections from Congress on Friday to complete the sale of over $8 billion worth of weapons to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan.

The idea that the Saudis are responsible for the humanitarian crisis completely neglects the major role of the Iran-backe Houthi in creating that crisis--both by blocking (and stealing) humanitarian aid and using aid shipments to smuggle weapons--like missiles fired at Saudi Arabia--which make the Saudis block aid to stop the Houthi logistics effort. Even the UN admits that the Houthi are the main problem.

You don't have to like Saudi Arabia given its history or even the UAE to recognize that Iran is a common enemy and that Saudi Arabia and the UAE are at least useful in battling Iran.

And what did Jordan do to get on the list?

Iran is slowly losing in Yemen because of Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Iran is facing difficulties elsewhere because of American sanctions. And the Saudis and the Emirates will be critical to holding open the Persian Gulf if Iran tries to halt oil exports.

Why is Congress so eager to swallow Iranian propaganda?

There is some hope that Saudi Arabia might change. Why would we undermine this effort?

The Houthis want things worse to get somebody else--like the UN or our Congress--to stop the Saudi-led pro-government war effort that is pushing the Iran-backed Houthis back. Why is our Congress going along with this?
