Darn That Stupid Reality

Why poor working Americans support Democrats is beyond me.

Democrats support unlimited immigration from poor countries--which increases the labor pool and so depresses wages for the working poor already here.

But that's okay, the ginormous brain trust in the Democratic party has a solution--raise the minimum wage!

But then companies do things that prove that the real minimum wage is always zero and that raising the minimum wage encourages businesses to make do with fewer employees:

According to Brand Eating, fast food king McDonald's has been spotted testing a self-serve McCafe coffee station/kiosk out in downtown Chicago. The station is located in the restaurant but apart from the counter and looks to be a theoretically more convenient way for those who just want a cup of coffee to skip the regular line (while also freeing employees from having to make each drink in the back).

I mean, nobody has ever seen little computers on their restaurant table that allow you to order food rather than tell a person what you want, right?

How long will humans be able to keep their jobs as the redundant back-up in case the machine glitches?

But that's okay, the ginormous brain trust in the Democrat party has a solution (well, other than seeking exemptions for their union allies)--soak the 1% to pay welfare benefits if you can't get a job!

But then we find that the rich are free people able to respond to unpleasant stimuli by moving away from the taxman (or moving your yacht to another state, but that's another--coughJohnKerrycough--story):

Billionaire David Tepper is moving from New Jersey to Florida this year — and so is his tax contribution to New Jersey, which is so large the move threatens his former home's state budget.

The outsize dent one change of address can make sheds light not only on how much money America's wealthiest citizens can move, but also on how much the "1 percent" contributes to a functioning government.

Who says one man can't make a difference?

But that's okay, the ginormous brain trust in the global Left has a solution to this, too--erase national borders by putting a supra-national bureaucratic entity in charge. Then it doesn't matter where people move to for taxing them (and who likes those wealthy people in our cities, anyway?) and nobody can stop immigration regardless of local views on who is and is not legally there.

The European Union is supposed to be the poster child for the glories of this approach.

What could possibly go wrong with this plan when reality imposes its will on theory?

If you like the poor, support Democrats and their heightened love affair with socialism despite its record of failure and you'll have a lot more to like.
