We Still Don't Get that Ally/Foe Distinction

The Israelis said that they didn't think they can rely on America to deal with Iran's nuclear ambitions. For speaking the truth they must be punished.

I find this amazing:

Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon is in hot water again with the United States for caustic criticism of his country's main ally that has put more strain on already testy relations with the Obama administration.

Should he have said this aloud? No. But he's in hot water for that?

What annoys me is that Iran can say anything about destroying their enemies or dismissing America, and we just shrug and say, "Oh, never mind. That's just for domestic purposes and has no effect on reality."

Hell, Iran can plot an act of war on American soil and we just look the other way.

So we're eager to excuse any affront by an avowed enemy.

And insist we can make them our partner.

But let an ally say something we don't like (and not a threat to us) and people go into a tizzy of harrumphing indignation.
