Tiny Fissures Appear

Is Chinese civil unrest truly getting "out of control?" (via Instapundit)

I think that any amount of cracking down is going to be a little bit like in Syria," Enzio Von Pfeil, CEO of the Economic Time Bond Fund told CNBC on Thursday. "You've put out the flame in one section of the kitchen but then another flame erupts in another section of the kitchen."

The latest protests were sparked after a pregnant woman was reportedly pushed to the ground by security guards who tried to remove her food stall in Zengcheng, located in Guangdong province.
Reports of large riots are pretty common in China. I just don't know if this time it can be said to be of a different nature than the past or whether even a different atmosphere of unrest could be fatal to the regime.

What I will say is that I don't assume the future of China means we have to only debate the future of the Chinese state. When a country is as big as a continent, all futures are possible.
