Because of Iraq

I see Wesley Clark is running an ad saying terrorism is worse "because of Iraq." Only if you'd also say that Nazi attacks on Americans was worse because of D-Day, I suppose. Whenever you start fighting back, the level of fighting goes up.

But really, the idea that the 2003 invasion of Iraq has caused our problems with jihadi terrorism rather than being a reaction to our problem with terrorism is just laughable. And sad because so many seem to believe Clark's charge is true.

So let's remember:

Because of Iraq, Iranian jihadis took our embassy in Tehran.

Because of Iraq, Hizbollah terrorists truck bombed our embassy and Marine barracks in Lebanon.

Because of Iraq, Libyan terrorists blew up an American airliner over Lockerbie, Scotland.

Because of Iraq, terrorists seized the Achille Lauro cruise ship.

Because of Iraq, Libya dropped mines in the Red Sea.

Because of Iraq, al Qaeda bombed our embassies in East Africa.

Because of Iraq, terrorists blew up a disco in West Berlin where our troops gathered.

Because of Iraq, al Qaeda bombed the USS Cole.

Because of Iraq, Iranian agents blew up an Air Force barracks in Saudi Arabia.

Because of Iraq, al Qaeda struck us on 9/11, destroying the Twin Towers and damaging the Pentagon, with a fourth plane crashing in Pennsylvania due to a passenger counter-attack before it could hit its target.

Because of Iraq--in Bizarro World where cause and effect and the passage of normal space-time have no meaning--Iraq has caused all our problems with Islamist terrorism.

Because of Iraq, opponents of American foreign policy have gone completely stark raving mad bonkers.

Effing amazing.
