Accursed Not To Be There

Our troops are helping Iraqis build a future of freedom and hope. The turnout may exceed 70%.

The enthusiasm of Iraqis to vote and their confidence in the future are signs that we are fighting and suffering for a good cause. And Iraqis know that we have stood with them to bring them this day--and more to come if they can rise to the challenge.

Our soldiers will be able to look back with pride on what they have accomplished. And those who opposed their work, claiming compassion for Iraqis or our troops even as they turn their backs on what they struggle to achieve, will be ashamed they did not stand with our soldiers, Marines, airmen, and sailors as they upheld our ideals with their blood:

And gentlemen in New England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought for us upon Iraq's election day.

We all don't even need to fight with the Iraqis and with our troops to hold our heads high. Just support those who have fought for us so valiantly to bring about this day and days of freedom ahead. And be proud that thorugh our military, we have given people long denied freedom a chance to have what some of us seem to hold so cheaply.
