For all of Japan's high-touted preparations to defend remote territory from invasion, the situation on Miyakojima island here illustrates how woefully ill-prepared the Ground Self-Defense Force is in dealing with a crisis.
The GSDF has a camp set up, but it doesn't have any missiles or ammunition depots yet.
Japan still doesn't have a launching pad for operations as their plan is to provide.
The premise of this plan is that Japanese forces can anticipate a Chinese grab for one of Japan's small remote uninhabited islands and beat China to the islands.
I think Japan's forces will be too little and too late. The continuing screw up on Miyako Island guarantees that Japan will lose a race even if the Chinese aren't that good or fast.
