A Reset to Believe In

In time, Russia will have less ability to turn off the lights and heat in the winter to compel compliance with Putin's demands.

This is good news for the NATO borderlands (tip to Instapundit):

“We’re helping Poland to reduce its dependence on Russian gas,” U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry told a news conference in Warsaw after meeting officials from Poland and Ukraine.

The Polish government official responsible for energy infrastructure, Piotr Naimski, said Poland, which has increased purchases of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States in recent years, would be able to send six billion cubic meters of gas to Ukraine starting from 2021 compared to the current capability of 1.5 bcm.

“We will take every effort to diversify gas supplies to Ukraine, which is now completely dependent on Russian deliveries,” Naimski told the same conference.

This is a "reset" I can believe in. I assume Democrats with their new level of Jack (D) Ripper fury at the Russians are fully behind this policy.

Ponder that. Putin is effing things up so badly that he is alienating his nearest customers for a product highly in demand all over the world--energy. It's not like Russia's economy can afford that additional hit, eh?

Russians continue (since June) to protest corruption and rigged elections under Putin. One wonders what will happen if Russians start to wonder why Russia is saddled with Putin.

UPDATE: This is another reset to believe in.
