When the Hope and Change Wears Off

Representative Omar highlights something important--just not important in the way she thinks the world is.

New Representative Omar, enmeshed in an anti-Semitism quagmire of her party's making,* said of President Obama:

Representative Ilhan Omar has suggested Barack Obama is a “pretty face” who “got away with murder”.

The Minnesota Democrat implied the former president’s “hope and change” message was an illusion – saying his immigration policies involved detaining children at the southern border and pointing to his repeated use of lethal drone strikes overseas.

“We can’t be only upset with Trump. … His policies are bad, but many of the people who came before him also had really bad policies. They just were more polished than he was,” Ms Omar told Politico. ...

She criticised Mr Obama for the “caging of kids” and “droning of countries around the world.”

I was grateful Obama actually did protect us from jihadi enemies and from border violations. Even if he didn't do either vigorously enough, he at least did a bit. Jihadis do need to be killed wherever we can reach them and our borders do need to be protected.

Omar's complaint really isn't so much about Obama as it is about Democrats who remained silent when Obama did things that Democrats would otherwise (under Bush 43 or Trump) oppose as immoral. This never gets old:

It wasn't a matter of Obama being polished.  It was all about the hope and change.

*Democrats could have slapped this down, but did not. Amazing and revolting.
