Demonstrating Commitment

I admire the Nigerian commander for going into the war zone to get their girls back from Boko Haram:

The Nigerian security apparatus is doing all it takes to rescue the over 100 schoolgirls abducted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in the northeastern Yobe State on February 19, 2018.

The presidency reported that the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) chief, Chief of Air Staff Abubakar Sadique had relocated to Yobe State to personally superintend the search for the missing Dapchi girls.

The NAF disclosed on Sunday that it had intensified efforts to locate the girls. Their efforts are complimented by that of ground troops engaged in the fights against the Boko Haram insurgency.

Kudos to Sadique. I hope he stays there until they succeed.

Back when jihadis first started to overrun western Iraq in January 2014, well before they took over northern Iraq, I urged President Obama to send Vice President Biden to Iraq and park him there until the crisis was resolved.

Maybe that kind of visible American commitment would have helped prevent the June collapse or at least sped up Operation Overlong to drive back ISIL.

Let's hope the Nigerians can get back their girls and hopefully make real progress in defeating jihadis and ending their unfortunate appeal in northern Nigeria.
