Good News and Bad News

The good news is that Democratic primary voters rejected a socialist candidate as their standard bearer in November.

The bad news (tip to Instapundit) is who they chose:

They've chosen the corrupt, opaque, power hungry, self-serving, aloof, greedy, politically soulless, congenital liar they so richly deserve.

Speaking of corruption:

Newly released State Department emails help reveal how a major Clinton Foundation donor was placed on a sensitive government intelligence advisory board even though he had no obvious experience in the field, a decision that appeared to baffle the department’s professional staff.

Yes, the Republicans got Trump. But a Trump presidency will be constrained by the rest of government, most importantly the permanent bureaucracy. And Trump will be constrained by Congress regardless of who controls the legislative branch. And, of course, Trump will be constrained by a largely Democratic press corps that will suddenly rediscover the joys of investigative journalism and oversight of the White House.

So while I find Trump a clown who I despise, I remain convinced that the clown will be easier to survive without doing lasting harm to our republic than the corrupt Clinton who will be celebrated and enabled by the bureaucracy, a friendly Congress if she gets that, and a press corps that will be the wind beneath her wings that will pressure and attack a Republican Congress (if that control survives a Trump loss) if it dares to oppose a president with a vagina.

But at least we don't have to worry about a communist having a shot at the presidency as the Clinton ship of state ratchets up to nominating speed to the convention. Right?

Come to think of it, if I was in the Sanders campaign, I'd worry that Hillary! will send Sid Blumenthal to end Bernie's stubborn bid for the nomination with an ice pick persuasion argument.

Feel the Bern!

Or does the FBI still have a say in Hillary's nomination?

UPDATE: I hate this political year. Republicans nominated a clown and the Democrats have tentatively settled on a corrupt candidate unless the FBI elevates the communist currently the first alternate.

Leaders of the Democrats don't like that second choice, and seem to hope that a creepy candidate--bad-touch Biden--will ride in to save them from that fate.

With our domestic scene seemingly in chaos, who abroad will try to exploit our leadership crisis?
