Free Tibet!?

Instead of Free Tibet, the Left has gotten its marching orders to replace that bumper sticker with COEXIST Tibet.

There's always another struggle other than the fight we are in to get the attention of liberals:

Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic leader in the U.S. House of Representatives, said on Tuesday an opportunity exists to find "common ground" with Chinese authorities on Tibet, which it has ruled since 1950.

Pelosi, a long-time critic of China's human rights record, took a group of House Democrats to China this month, on a trip that included a rare visit to Tibet.

Pelosi said that while Chinese President Xi Jinping had rejected independence for Tibet, the United States and Tibet's exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, only wanted autonomy.

"So if they (Chinese authorities) think it is about independence, he (Dalai Lama) says it's about autonomy, we only support autonomy ... then I think there is an opportunity to find common ground," she told a news conference.

China considers Tibet a "core interest" that does not allow for compromise.  Local "autonomy" is as much an assault on Chinese Communist Party control as independence, really. China will control the territory and send in non-Tibetans to dilute the local ethnic Tibetans to the point where some day Tibetan culture will just something you see in Han-run museums and gift shops.

But by all means, spend your time looking for ways to come to an agreement with China over their 1950 Tibet conquest instead of dealing with the war on Islamist terrorists we are in now.
