In North Korea They Call Today "Wednesday"

Well, good golly, it's time for Earth Day again, when proper green types sit in darkness for an hour to demonstrate their moral superiority!

Pity they don't have the conviction of North Koreans every hour of every day.

To save the planet, of course.

Saaay... Who's that planet-killer with the lights on in Pyongyang, anyway?

Secretary of State Kerry, who has vanquished every foe of America and Western civilization itself during his all-too-brief tenure so far, now has the leisure time to tackle global warming.

Although with global warming being on an inconvenient "pause" for 17 years, give or take a year, perhaps greenhouse gasses are really a junior varsity-level threat to us for now and not the urgent taks that must be addressed now before it is too late, eh?

Maybe Kerry could return to review his earlier diplomatic Kerry-Lavrov triumph that took away Assad's capacity to use chemical weapons:

A report last year by a fact-finding mission set up by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons said a toxic chemical, almost certainly chlorine, was used repeatedly in attacks on villages in Northern Syria.

"Leaves on plants ... wilted `like autumn leaves,'" it cited witnesses as saying. "In one case, a child standing close to the impact site died later because of exposure to the toxic chemical."

British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said the report's findings pointed to the regime of President Bashar Assad using chlorine as a weapon.

Not that this diminishes the triumph one bit! Chlorine gas was not part of that deal. So it doesn't count in the annual review. Now we're talking real nuance!

And to complete the mismatch between Kerry's concerns and reality, it is snowing outside as I write this Wednesday morning in Michigan.

Am I killing the planet if I have to fire up the snow blower today?

UPDATE: Lileks. Need I say more?
