Oh Please, We're On Plan B

This is kind of funny:

President Barack Obama's nominee to become the next U.S. defense secretary said on Wednesday that Russia needed to be reminded that a Cold War-era arms control agreement was a "two-way street" and that Washington could respond to any violations.

Please. Was he under oath?

Ashton Carter may be a fine man, but he does work for President Obama. Does anybody really believe we'd call out the Russians on violating arms control agreements and do anything about it?

President Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize in anticipation of his efforts to promote global nuclear disarmament. Is he going to pull a Reagan and put theater nukes into NATO Europe?

With the failure to really stand by Ukraine under the Budapest Memorandum that provided for Ukraine's nuclear disarmament in exchange for Russian, American, and British guarantees of Ukraine's territorial integrity and independence, what country that worries about either will believe it can preserve them with signed documents rather than nuclear weapons?

But no worries, President Obama still has two years to gut our own nuclear arsenal and at least promote American nuclear disarmament. Now that's a legacy to work for, eh?
