Our Re-Reset Partner

Oh, that Putin! What a rascal he is!

Lovely little strategic stability you got there. It would be a shame if anything was to happen to it:

President Vladimir Putin warned Washington that a spat between nuclear powers over the Ukraine crisis could threaten global stability and said in remarks published on Wednesday that Russia would not be "blackmailed" by sanctions.

Taking a tough line on the eve of talks with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Milan, Putin said the sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union over Moscow's role in the crisis were hindering peace moves.

"We hope that our partners will realise the recklessness of attempts to blackmail Russia, will remember the risks that a spat between major nuclear powers incurs for strategic stability," he told the Serbian newspaper Politika before a brief visit to Belgrade on Thursday.

Yeah, the Western response to naked Russian aggression against Ukraine is the real problem here. And Putin (again) rattles his nuclear sabre to show his displeasure.

Which shows that Russia's desire to renew the Reset is merely a way to gain Western passivity in the face of Russian aggression. Let's recall the photo-op from the first Reset:

My, my. That was hilarious! I'm sure Lavrov had no idea that giving us the middle finger was a vulgar gesture, right?

Seriously, can Russia have friendly relations with anyone? Or are the Russians under Putin only capable of having enemies they control, fight, or intimidate into cooperation?

UPDATE: Ah, diplomacy. So sorry about splitting your territory with Nazi Germany back in 1939. We'd like to make it up to you, okay?

Poland's parliamentary speaker, Radoslaw Sikorski, has been quoted as saying that Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed to Poland's then leader in 2008 that they divide Ukraine between themselves.

I wonder what Lavrov's conversations with China sound like?
