France Enters the War

France launched its first air strike in Iraq.

And to you cynics out there, yes, they attacked ISIL:

"This morning at 9:40 (0740 GMT) our Rafale jets launched a first strike against a logistics depot of the terrorists," President Francois Hollande's office said a statement issued shortly after the raids.

The target in northeast Iraq was totally destroyed, said the statement, adding that there would be further operations "in the coming days".

Kidding aside, my thanks to France.

Although for all the pixels spilled about how France's absence in the 2003 war invalidated our coalition, I have to wonder if French participation then would have muted President Obama's determination to get out as soon as he could and spared us Iraq War 3.0.
