If I May State the Obvious

As Iran spars with the West over nuclear weapons, denying that Iran is even trying to acquire such weapons, their supreme nutball perhaps gives away a bit much in an effort to use a Western expression to push back.

Said the Iranian Supreme Nutball:

"They make it seem like Israel wants to attack, but America is stopping it: the good cop, bad cop trick," Khamenei told senior statesmen at an iftar (fast-breaking supper during the holy month of Ramadan) function.

If I may state the obvious, you play "good cop, bad cop" with criminals when you are trying to get the criminals to confess to a crime you know they committed.

Which is actually pretty accurate, I admit.
