Unrest in the Empire?

I admit I missed this drama in Abkhazia:

Last week's hair-trigger uprising in Abkhazia, the Georgian breakaway region supported by Russia, ended in a matter of days. It was over before it could be properly understood or even noticed by the outside world.

It isn't clear whether this is an opportunity for Russia to formally annex the former Georgian territory that Russia put out of reach of Georgian authority in the 2008 war; or if it is a sign that locals want more democracy and opportunity.

Perhaps Russia will find they need those Chechen "volunteers" sent to Ukraine closer to their home region.

UPDATE: Thanks to Stones Cry Out for the link. I'm not the only one who missed this.
