Send In the Tanks

Reinforcing eastern Europe seems important to NATO these days.

No doubt:

NATO defense ministers will discuss temporarily reinforcing forces in Poland when they meet in Brussels this week, a spokesman for the German defense ministry said on Sunday, a move that would be aimed at reassuring countries nervous about Russia's intervention in Ukraine.

But what's with this "temporarily" stuff?

At the risk of droning on, how about REFORPOL?

Because this alone makes me want Abrams tanks in Poland:

Russia says deployment of significant NATO forces close to Russia would violate the 1997 Founding Act, an agreement between Moscow and the alliance.

Really? Those vodka-addled psychopaths in charge of Russia really want to argue that NATO is unreasonably worried about eastern NATO security after Russia violates the 1994 Budapest Memorandum on Ukraine's sovereignty? Not to mention the UN charter on not invading member states?

Reinforce Poland. Permanently. Russia is not to be trusted.
