The Turks?

There isn't much in our press about what Turkey is thinking these days.

Surely, the Turks have an opinion about Russia gaining a bigger foothold in the Black Sea.

Especially with Russia arming Assad to their south in Syria and prepared to collect on their investment with a bigger naval presence in Syria if Assad wins.

Turkey could hit Russia where it hurts by invading Syria, overthrowing Assad, and ejecting the Russians from their threadbare (for now) naval base at Tartus.

That's probably a bit too bold for the Turks. But establishing and defending a "humanitarian" zone along the border inside Syria would be a blow to Assad (and so to Russia), giving rebels a safe haven to rest and train before going to battle.
