Damned If You're Bush and Damned If You're Not

"The world" hated Bush for taking down the Saddam killing machine and fighting to prevent Baathists, Iran-backed Sadrists, and jihadis from taking control of Iraq after that. You'd think they'd love us for not intervening in Syria. You'd be horribly confused if you thought that.

All sides in Syria's civil war are using shelling and siege tactics to punish civilians and big powers bear responsibility for allowing such war crimes to persist, U.N. human rights investigators said on Wednesday.

So Russia is all-in on supporting Assad, so we know why they bear responsibility.

But we have responded by largely staying out of the war against the Assad killing machine which is trying to keep his Baathist regime in power supported by Iranian-recruited militias and which has attracted a huge Sunni jihadi corps into the war.

It's a funny world, as I've mentioned before.
