If you have read the recent reports on drone strikes by Ben Emmerson, UN special rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism, Christof Heyns, UN special rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, there is only one answer to this question … and it is not the answer most would want to hear.
His answer is basically, "yes."
The use of drones is no different than any other weapon and we use them lawfully.
These complaints about us are basically making the press corps and the human rights industry the jihadi air defense network. Call it, Ink Dome, of you wish (and to insult them--from their own point of view--with an Israeli reference!)
Given the hysteria the Taliban have whipped the media into over this issue, this is funny:
In Pakistan the military, responding to a request from parliament about how many Islamic terrorists and civilians had been killed by American UAV missile attacks reported that, by their count, the Americans had killed 2,160 terrorists, and 67 civilians in 317 attacks since 2008. This angered many politicians, who had been led to believe (by recent media reports and government estimates) that the number of civilian deaths was much higher (400 or more).
Maybe look at our terrorist enemies for real violations, okay?
