Am I Paranoid Enough?

I like the idea of organ donation. In theory. But with so many people in need of organs, I would hate to think that one day I might be in a hospital and the doctors are looking at my odds and weighing treatment options against the many people who could be saved by my "donated" organs (excepting the liver, perhaps). Hell, I still have my tonsils. They might be worth something, some day.

And with the government running health care more and more, and government budgets on the line in patient care decisions, my life versus a new chair for some Assistant to the Director of Something-or-Other's office should not be part of the treatment discussion.

So just in case, I think I might amend my will to say I am not an organ donor. Further I should specify that $200,000 of my estate is to be used to purchase organs should I pass away. So not only will a decision not to attempt to save me deny them my organs, it will deny them other organs.

I'm not a naturally cruel or selfish person. But I think I'd like a little insurance. For the good of the children, bust a gut for me, eh?
