The New SLA

Jordan's Syria problem has an Israeli solution.

Syria's civil war is spilling over to Jordan where refugees flow and where jihadis gather to fight in Syria. Jordan worries that the collapse of Syria's central government will leave Jordan vulnerable to jihadis who turn their attention to Jordan.

But the Jordanians have a solution for that problem:

To prepare for a possible Syrian breakup or a major push by Islamists from the north, some Jordanian officials have discussed creating a buffer zone in southern Syria, defended by tribal forces straddling the Jordanian border who would be equipped and trained to block the passage of Islamist fighters into the kingdom.

Huh. Sounds familiar.

Jordan can call it the Syrian Levant Army.
