Assad's Effort to Promote Regional Chaos?

Syria's Assad says that after him, comes the deluge for the region. So we should support his bloody effort to remain in power.

Sunni Arab violence in Iraq is up:

June was one of the bloodiest months in Iraq since U.S. troops withdrew at the end of last year, with at least 237 people killed and 603 wounded mainly in bomb attacks, a tally by Reuters showed on Sunday. ...

Sunni insurgents often attack Shi'ite targets to try to reignite the sectarian violence that killed tens of thousands of people in 2006-2007. Iraq's al Qaeda wing has claimed some of the recent bombings against Shi'ites.

While some of the Sunni jihadis that Assad hosted have clearly turned on Assad's Alawite minority government, is it possible that Assad has ordered those jihadis who remain loyal to his regime to hit Iraq to raise the spectre of regional chaos as a consequence of Assad's overthrow?

Assad is desperate. Don't rule out any measure--no matter how low odds--that he might take to avoid losing power.
