It was obvious to me from the first time I actually looked at the protests that we are dealing with anarchists and communists who are striving to be the vanguard of the 99%. And part of that vanguard strategy is to leverage the anger of the mostly sensible American public that is angry about our bad economy and essentially trick them into being the on-camera extras to give the protests the illusion of mass support.
But actually, I'm not surprised that people are shocked about the violence and disorder. People rely on the media to tell them what is happening, for the most part. And the media has failed. I knew it would fail. I provided more context for the protesters in that one first post than the media has managed in the last couple months.
And me, without even a fancy journalism degree, raised the bar here:
Oh, the signs and dress code of the protesters mostly scream "communists and anarchists." While they seem to be going to greater lengths to hide their organizations than they did during the Iraq War protests they tried to use to expand their influence by attracting other people, some clues are there. Like the sign that mentioned the Party for Socialism and Liberation. Oops. Bloody giveaway. Some party discipline might be in order to erase that faux pas.
I wonder if our press corps will actually report on this apparent motivation for the protests. The grubby cul-de-sac communists with their consumer electronics that we breed may be a pathetic lot as far as revolutionaries go, with their dreams of Utopia seemingly disproven by actual practice by actual communists, but they are determined. But if the Iraq War "protest movement" history is any guide, these protests will continue to be portrayed by our professionally trained press corps as just ordinary people (Bonus points for getting senior citizens "who have never been to a protest before!" into a story).
They want a revolution. And we can see how they handle their own little revolting communities. They've turned them into cesspools of filth, idiocy, and violence.
And you've seen the quality of our press corps. They are the rear guard of the vanguard, protecting their rear. I will grant the press the advantage that they shower more frequently, at the very least.
