Silver Bullies

You have to love AARP's commercial that essentially tells legislators, "lovely little reelection campaign you have there. It would be a shame if something was to happen to it:"

No reliance on arguments of need or justice. Just a threat to extort continued payments whether the country can afford it or not. Certainly, arguments can be made on the basis of need or justice. But isn't there also the question of shared sacrifice to solve our problems? Isn't there a question of the burden on their children and grandchildren? Isn't there a question of America's long-term interest? Aren't all of these valid question in figuring out what to do?

I am deeply offended that this organization simply made a raw political threat to Congress to get what they want.
