Cursed to Get What They Wished

So Old Europe got what they wanted--a post-America America that tries to emulate Europe.

It isn't quite as cool as they hoped:

The biggest failure of this administration, and there have been many, has been its central belief that government knows best, and that the way to prosperity is to spend ever greater amounts of taxpayers’ money on the backs of hard-working Americans. As a result, the United States is a nation on a precipice, facing towering debts and the threat of a double dip recession at a time when 14 million Americans are already out of work. Ultimately, it is economic freedom, minimal government intervention, and greater individual liberty that can put America back on its feet, rather than endless bailouts, higher taxes and suffocating government regulation, all hallmarks of the Obama experiment. Ultimately, the world needs a powerful United States that is a beacon of hope to the world, rather than a basket case of failed liberal policies.

Of course, that's an opinion from Britain. But can the continentals really say that they're happy with 1,000 days of the first Old European-American in the White House? (Even President Carter was shocked into reversing the decline in defense spending before Reagan came into office.)

I've written before that in the long run, I'm still optimistic about our future. We don't need a miracle. If it's a miracle we need, it's a short chamber Boxer Henry point 45 caliber miracle. And a bayonet, with some guts behind.

Don't be so quick to write us off--again. We have many natural advantages that if allowed to run their course will restore our position of leadership. We can endure this presidency.
