Out of Reach

One good reason we may feel better positioned to confront Pakistan over their refusal to fully engage in the war on Islamist terrorists and support some on the side is that our reliance on Pakistan lines of supply for our troops in Afghanistan is dropping fast (from this Strategypage article). The northern route, which includes routes through Russia, now handles 40% of our supply traffic. We aim to raise that to 75% by the end of this year and get it to 100% in a year.

Our supply lines through Pakistan always gave me nightmares. Especially as we surged troops into Afghanistan. Luckily, not all the northern route is through Russia, or I might still have bad dreams if not nighmares.
