As Long As You're Living Under My Roof!

A minor freedom under assault--but a freedom to choose nonetheless:

McDonald’s Corp. is facing what could be the most serious Happy Meal threat to date, if a New York city councilman is able to pass legislation on toys in fast-food meals.

Leroy Comrie, the council’s deputy majority leader, from Queens, today said he will introduce legislation to set a nutrition threshold for distributing incentives like toys, games and admission tickets in meals meant for children.

So he can't set limits on his own kids (which I heard on a television report) and decides to make it everyone's problem because he has the authority to do it?

Also on TV, I heard a proponent of the measure argue that because people get health problems that government-run health care systems have to pay for, the government can tell us what we can eat so we won't develop problems that the government-run health programs pay for!

One, taxpayers pay for them--not the government. And if you really believe this logic, what can't the government compel us to do? That logic is so disturbing that I can't believe an adult would make it.
