Western Desert Forces

In regard to the hope that Egypt might intervene on the side of the Libyan rebels, the Egyptians have a corps headquartered at Mersa Matruh (about 100 miles from the Libyan border) composed of one tank division and two mechanized divisions. There are three other similar corps and there are independent units, of course.

Heck, I'll even downgrade what the Egyptians need. If two divisions, as I first suggested, take only two brigades each (1 tank and one mechanized) plus their artillery, recon, and support elements, that would be enough to pound the Libyan forces in the east.

[NOTE: I clarified the last sentence to make sense even if you don't read my linked post about the Egyptian force.]
