Oh, What Will We Decide?

The Middle East is shaking and even in the best of times appears able to blow at any moment. So as Canada seeks to increase oil exports to America, our government weighs a decision on expanded pipeline capacity. Really (via Instapundit):

The State Department needs to decide whether to grant approval to the pipeline, which is designed to substantially expand the flow of Canadian synthetic crude to the United States.

Environmentalists fiercely oppose the pipeline because oil sands production emits more greenhouse gases than production of most conventional oil products.

Only in the world of our government could this even be a debate.
