O Canada, Who Stands on Guard for Thee?

I really like Canada. Toronto is my favorite place to vacation. Perhaps it is no place to work and live. I don't know. But it is a great place to play.

But it is increasingly clear that the Canada I admire and like is the old Canada still alive only through the inertia of the weight of its proud history. But that inertia is being resisted by people and institutions that do not stand guard for Canada or the freedom that supposedly makes Canada glorious and strong. One could wish that Mark Steyn wrote on chirpier topics, but there you go.

One day, Canada won't be glorious. And it won't be free.

But perhaps glowing hearts will reappear to see Canada rise again. One can always hope.
