Both With Us and Against Us

Pakistani opposition to the Taliban has doubled but views of America are down:

Pakistanis' views on the Taliban have shifted dramatically in the past year, with 70 percent now opposing the militants, according to a new poll. The United States doesn't fare well either, with 64 percent of Pakistanis seeing Washington as an enemy.

Of course, the difference is the Pakistanis people are now willing to fight the Taliban. I bet few are willing to fight America. Calling America an enemy is a cheap gesture since everyone knows we just ship in money and won't bomb their luxury hotels or visiting cricket teams.

I wouldn't go back to the days when Pakistanis had a higher opinion of us yet thought the jihadis that sheltered in their country were just swell chaps with good hearts.
