Don't Get Cocky

I continue to worry more about events in Iraq's Kurdish regions derailing Iraq's progress than I do over Syrian, Iranian, and al Qaeda aggression inside Iraq.

This story does not lessen my worries:

Iraqi Kurdistan risks serious instability as Talabani and Barzani show that, despite all their talk of democracy in Kurdistan, their parties do not take such principles seriously.

But if the worst happens and the Kurds overplay their hand, it is no reason to abandon the progress we've made through all the other problems we've overcome.

Work the problem, I always say. Work the problem.
