A Virtuous Cycle

Pakistan seems like they are finally realizing that India is not a threat to them. The Pakistanis seem to be focusing more of their military power against the jihadis in the west rather than focusing on India.

Really, if nukes can't deter an Indian invasion, what's the point of having them? And that's aside from wondering why India would want to conquer Pakistan.

India, in turn, needs to be able to turn their attention to China, which still claims Indian territory and increasingly gains the ability to make good on their claims in northeast India.

India is responding to changing circumstances by redeploying military power against China:

India is moving a squadron of 18 Su-30 fighters to a base in the northeast, near the Chinese border. Two infantry divisions will also be moved into the area, where there is a thousand kilometer long, unfenced border with China. Increasingly, India sees growing Chinese military power as directed at India.

Hopefully, this reinforces Pakistani comfort levels and lets them move more against the jihadis inside Pakistan, which allows India to move more force to face India. Ideally, India gains the ability to both defeat the Chinese in the northeast and strike southeast into Burma (Myanmar) to remove that Chinese ally on the Bay of Bengal should it come to a shooting war.
