Opening Barrage

Our enemies have started really using their haven in Pakistan to hit us in Afghanistan:

Mortar and rocket attacks by militants in Pakistan across the border into Afghanistan have spiked in the last month and U.S. and NATO forces have been returning fire, the top NATO commander in Afghanistan said.

Right now we are shooting back. Will we be drawn into the region with a new approach to dealing with this ongoing threat?

UPDATE: Pakistan continues to want the privileges of our state-centric system that says they are in complete control of their territory--so others must keep out--while not actually controlling their territory:

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi's comments during a U.N. Security Council session on Afghanistan's future could deal a blow to the United States' efforts to kill or capture al-Qaida leaders.

"Pakistan will not allow its territory to be used against other countries. However, no foreign troops will be allowed to operate inside Pakistan," Qureshi told the 15-nation council. "The new democratic government in Pakistan cannot but be sensitive to the sentiments of our people."

We really need to wage a campaign that recognizes that Pakistan does not control their own territory regardless of what they say.
