Live by the Chant, Die by the Chant

San Francisco loves protesters and boy did they get them.

San Francisco had to put the Olympic torch into a witness protection plan for its only American leg:

With scuffles breaking out between human rights activists and pro-Chinese groups Wednesday, the relay was rerouted and shortened to prevent disruptions by massive crowds. The planned closing ceremony at the waterfront was canceled and moved to San Francisco International Airport. The flame was placed on a plane and was not displayed.

First of all, crying out that protesting China's Olympics torch run is politicizing the games when China's motives for hosting the game are as political as any since the 1936 Berlin Olympics is silly.

Second, protests should not edge into violence even if China is hardly the one to claim offense when you consider their communist dictatorship.

Third, and most importantly for this post, I am experiencing sick pleasure in the city's extreme efforts to avoid protest. In a city that raises protests to the level of a religious sacrament and elevates protesters to sainthood status, it is satisfying to see their most cherished activity turn around and bite them in the torch.

If it wasn't already copyrighted, I'd give this a "heh."
