The Reality-Based Community At Work

It is inconceivable to our gloriously nuanced Left that Saddam had any ties to Osama bin Laden. (Wait right there--I didn't say Saddam ordered 9/11. Why is it that one can say "ties to" and have Lefties hear "command and control relations in which Saddam ordered the 9/11 strikes, as indicated by a memo giving the order to"?)

Yet this "reality-based" community can think this:

Democrats in America are evenly divided on the question of whether George W. Bush knew about the 9/11 terrorist attacks in advance. Thirty-five percent (35%) of Democrats believe he did know, 39% say he did not know, and 26% are not sure.

Yes, there are some Republicans and independents who share this fantasy as the poll shows, but the left side of the aisle is clearly in the lead on this paranoia score.

And while the media (rightly) ridiculed the Vince Foster guys and the related militia scares about UN troops in America ready to take over, our press today has no stomach for taking on this 9/11 belief.

Shoot, given that our press corps is more tilted to the left than our population, I'd love to see the polling results for reporters alone!

Of course, this does make it easier to understand how they can also believe that using less toilet paper can save the planet from destruction.

Our reality-debased community at work.

UPDATE: Crikey! It's worse than I thought.
