If You Want to Retreat, You Already Have a Party

Some Republican legislators went to the President to urge him to consider the effects of polling on Iraq on their electoral futures.

I hope the President sent them packing--politely of course.

We have problems enough with one party eager to surrender. I don't want two such parties.

If wanting to win is bad at elections, let the loyal opposition take the side of losing. If the Republicans need to advocate defeat to win elections, to Hell with them.

I hope the President put some spine into those who would shamefully pretend that surrender and defeat are vote winners at our elections:

It is George W. Bush's historic mission to stand in the way of such a disgrace. And he can prevail. Surely this nation will not, at the end of the day, follow the path of defeat-embracing Democrats or poll-fearing Republicans.

This President fights. I fear what happens in 2009, but his party must stick with them to advocate victory.
