Choosing Poorly

Africa as a continent has lots of problems. Most are self-inflicted.

Well, the countries of Africa collectively just shot themselves in the foot again:

A summit of African leaders opened Saturday with a special welcome for the firebrand presidents of Iran and Venezuela, each visiting the poorest continent to win support for their anti-American agenda.

Gambian President Yahya Jammeh hailed the presence of Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez and Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the summit of the 53-nation African Union as "a morale booster as well as an assurance that Africa can make it."

America is the only country in the world that can help the continent and what do the African leaders do? Welcome rulers who profess to be our enemy. These guys boost their morale? Yeah, whenever I'm down I dream of Charles Manson coming by and pepping me up. So I can see that.

But I guarantee you that in the next African crisis--whether famine, genocide, or war--the African leaders won't be calling for Venezuela or Iran to help. Well, not unless it is a thug state looking for help in committing genocide of course. I'm sure Sudan and Zimbabwe took home the business cards of Venezuela and Iran.

Stupid doesn't begin to describe these so-called leaders.
